A message from Josh

My family have lived for generations in Bury, after fleeing persecution in Europe. My wife and I lived in Ramsbottom, Bury after studying in America and our first child was born in Bolton. We’ve bought our home in Wigan, and with our kids, spend our time swimming in Hindley, walking the flashes or Billinge Hill, Haigh or Borsdane Woods.

If you’ve met me you’ll know I do politics differently. No waffle. I say it how it is, speak bluntly, and make time to meet face to face. Our politics is trapped in a pointless game of cat and mouse on TV, people repeating meaningless lines without thinking about what they mean and why.

I’m not like that. Three things guide me. First, I love my family. Nothing matters more to me than being a good husband and Dad. I want to leave my kids a country that is secure, provides access to nature and wildlife, protects freedom and safety, and provides opportunities to contribute and participate.

Second, I want to get things done for our community. I’m pushing for hundreds of millions of pounds of investment in projects across my constituency. Too often, people in Westminster do not have your voices and interests in their hearts. I’ve seen it for myself. I bring our communities into the rooms where decisions are made and bang heads together to get results. That is what I do.

Third, I want Labour to return to being the party of working class people in this country. This country is powered by hard working, decent people whose lives have been tough for decades. I have seen how our country works, and too often, the establishment does not serve ordinary people. It makes me frustrated and angry. If Labour has a purpose, it’s to fix that, and deliver radical change to put working families at the heart of our economy and laws. Their strength is our country’s strength.
